Soulblight Gravelords Warscroll Review: Bloodseeker Palanquin, Mortis Engine

In this video TheJTJ reviews the Warscroll for Bloodseeker Palanquin and Mortis Engine. I cover their abilities and discuss some tactics for each.

Bloodseeker Palanquin

  • Cost
    • 290
  • Notes:
    • Vampire
    • Malignant
    • Hero
    • Wizard
    • Behemoth
  • Max wound output:
    • 24
  • Average wound output:
    • 5
  • Thoughts:
    • Not a front line fighter, but could spike and take out weak units.

  • The Good
    • 14” move at full health
    • Fly
    • Big base for back line buffing.
    • Motal wound output potential
    • Fine vintage goes great with BK
  • The Bad
    • 4+ save
    • no The Hunger
    • Wail of the Damned needs 4+
  • Thoughts
    • Not a bad option for a backline hero, that buffs and sits behind your hoard of troops.
    • Damage output is very up and down, so is the MW output, all require good rolls and cannot be counted on every turn, but very nice when they spike.

  • Thoughts on Bloodlines
    • Legion of Blood
      • extra D3 run from BS, and No negative modifiers on Deathrattle in 12”
      • Sanguine Blur and Soulbound Garment Or Oubliette Arcana
      • Great buff unit for this Bloodline keing of the Bloodline battletraits
    • Legion of Night
      • Undending will and Morghegs Claw
        • Great way to buff everything in 12”
      • Thoughts on Bloodlines
        • Legion of Blood
          • extra D3 run from BS, and No negative modifiers on Deathrattle in 12”
          • Sanguine Blur and Soulbound Garment Or Oubliette Arcana
          • Great buff unit for this Bloodline keing of the Bloodline battletraits
    • Legion of Night
      • Undending will and Morghegs Claw
        • Great way to buff everything in 12”
    • Vyrkos Dynasty
      • +1 wound for Deathrattle and Deadwalkers in 9” and reroll casting.
      • Command trait- pick one!
      • Artefact – Arcane Tome or Spell lore
    • Kastelai Dynasty
      • Can keep up with your BK
      • Swift and Deadly and Fragment of the keep
      • Use it at a mobile BK buffing platform. Use the MW output to weaken units for your BKs to take out.
      • Look at the potential with “A Fine Vintage” and BKs.
    • Avengorii Dynasty
      • I would not take a general here. Probably not the best Bloodline to use in

    •  Spell
      • Blood Siphon
        • Good range potential to hit for D6, but need rolls to go your way.
      • B+
    • Unit Rating
      • A-
        • Lots of utility as a back line hero
        • Great way to buff BKs

Mortis Engine

  • Cost
    • 200
  • Notes:
    • Malignant
    • Behemoths
  • Max wound output:
    • 18
  • Average wound output:
    • 4
  • Thoughts:
    • Does not like Melee combat

  • The Good
    • 14” move at full health
    • Fly
    • +1 casting
  • The Bad
    • 4+ save
    • Not a Hero
    • Why not a caster?

  •  Thoughts
    • Just sad this unit is not a hero or monster, or caster… Or something
    • Has the chance to do some MW in 12”.
    • 200 points is not bad, but what is this doing for your list?
    • +1 to cast is nice, but Corpse cart does it also for less.
    • Feels it wants to sit back and do mortal wounds, but the output is not great enough to justify the cost. Religuiary should be D6 at least.

  • Unit Rating
    • C+
      • Seems to be at odds with itself.
      • For 200 points take a unit of Blood Knights or Belladamma Volga.

Thanks for watching, Y’all be good.
