Soulblight Gravelords Warscroll Review: Blood Knights, Vargheists

In this video TheJTJ reviews the Warscroll for Blood Knights, Vargheists. I cover their abilities and discuss some tactics for each.

 

 

Blood Knights

    • Vampire
    • Battleline in Kastelai Dynasty
  • Max wound output, unit of 5:
    • Raw Max 31
  • Average wound output:
    • 8
  • On charge:
    • Max 46
    • Average 13

Buffed & on the charge

  • Bloodied Strength
    • Max 63
    • Average 18
  • Call to the Hunt
    • Max 62
    • Average 17
  • All out attack, extra attack, Bloodied Strength
    • Max 83
    • Average 30
  • The Good
    • Hits hard, and survivable.
    • Works nicely in several bloodlines
    • Works great as a Hammer unit
    • Riders of ruin
  • The Bad
    • 39 points a model, hurts when you loose them.
    • 10” move
    • Need to charge to get max efficiency.
  • Thoughts
    • You can build an army around them in Kastelai, or use them sprinkled in as a hammer unit toother bloodlines.
    • To get the most out of them they need buffs and to charge. If they stay locked in combat they will not shine without help.
    • Ways to buff:
      • All out attack/all out defense
      • Might of the Crimson Keep
      • Under a Killing Moon
      • Call to the Hunt / Crimson Feast
      • Tactical insight

    • A
      • Need to charge or be buffed a bit.
      • Could be a bit faster.

 

 

Vargheists

  • Cost
    • 155
    • 3 models
  • Notes:
    • Vampire
    • fly
    • Batteline in Legion of Night
  • Max wound output:
    • 20
  • Average wound output:
    • 8
    • Nothing great, need buffs

 

  • The Good
    • 12” move
    • Deaths Descent
  • The Bad
    • 6 points a model!
    • 4 wounds, 5+ , 6++ not very resilient.
  • Thoughts
    • They are sort of in a middle ground. Not being bad at anything but not great at one thing. Other than Death Descent they are not that special. Dire wolves could fill a similar roll in the army.
    • I just feel they needed one more ability to make them worth their points.
    • Unit Rating
      • C+
        • Needs lots of buffs to make them worth their points.
        • Cost per model is high, will hurt when they die.
        • Direwolves and Fell Bats can serve similar function and probably do it better.
