Age of SigmarPainting and Hobby

Quarantine Hobby Update

Howdy y’all JTJ here Getting a bit of hobby done while stuck in the house.

Couple of questions that I have been asking myself these last few weeks:

  1. When will things return to normal? Will it be a instant shift back or a gradual shift?
  2. When will GW start shipping again?
  3. When will I feel reasonably safe going and playing a game of AOS at a shop?
  4. What are the long term affects on the Texas Masters?
  5. Will LoneStar GT get pushed back again, or canceled?
  6. Will other GTs be affected?
  7. How do we balance individual freedoms with the safety of the community?

Interesting Find

After completing the Lord of Change I went to throw the box in the recycle bin and then it occurred to me that the box was a little bit heavy and thick. I started looking a little closer and found out that the regular GW retail box as another box inside of it. It was some awesome art and is a very nicely made, insert? My questions is why? Was this some special release, was this on the shelf like this somewhere? Do other big kits have boxes in side of them? Any help or info about this would be awesome.

List Ideas

So I have been reading and re-reading and reading the Tzeentch book again. I have found a second Battalion that I really like, the Multitudinous Host. It is not as flexible at Changehost, but my goodness it would be a pain to play against. Auto bringing back d3 Horror models every turn is just crazy. Just trying to take out one unit of 10 Pinks is hard enough without them coming back. Here is my preliminary thoughts on a list

  • Change Coven
    • Guild of Summoners
  • Gaunt Summoner
  • Blue Scribes
  • Changeling
  • Multitudinous Host
    • Changecaster
    • Horrors
      • Pinks x10
      • Pinks x10
      • Pinks x10
      • Blue x10
      • Blue x10
      • Blue x10
      • Blue x10
      • Blue x10
  • Endless spell
    • Aethervoid Pedulum
    • Balewind vortex
    • Darkfire Deamonrift

This is sort of the base I want to build around. I am flexible on the Endless Spells and HQ. Just trying to get good amount of casting on the table. Liked the Idea of Guild of Summoners, because I do not need more bodies, but I could use extra HQs. Like I said, it is not as flexible as the Changehost, but it would be a grind to take down. Thoughts?

Painting

As far as painting goes I have completed 4×10 Pink Horrors and about 6 total blue horrors. I did get a little building done on some other models. I have just been trying to grind through all the Horrors. Once they are done, I will look at painting all the summoned models I need. Then I will start work on the display board. I have a great Idea for the board, but not sure how to make it happen yet….more to come on that later.

I have kept all the Horrors to a basic tabletop level. If I have time I can go back and bring the painting level up a bit. But I really want to playtest, see the 2020 GHB, before I commit to a core list. Later in the year I plan to go back and up the level on the Horrors.

Question for the masses

I may run Guild of Summoners, if I do I would need a few more LOC. My question to you is, could I use these older Fateweaver models. Just put them on a larger base? Would anyone have an issue with that in competitive play?

Part of it is I do not want to spend $200+ on the models, but honestly I just dont have the time to paint another new style LOC. It is just sooo much detail.

1 of these are not like the others:

RollToWound.com update

I have only got a chance to do a little to the site, mostly behind the scenes stuff. If you see something that needs changing or you dont like, feel free to let me know.

The main amount of work I have done for the site is started the process of creating the logo. I have a general directions, “name of site and dice”, but other than that I have about 30 preliminary mock ups. I will keep refining those and hope to have some real site art up in the next couple of months.

I am still looking for anyone wanting to create content. Just IM me and we can talk about the details.

Y’all be good.
