Soulblight Gravelords Warscroll Review: Zombie Dragon and Terrorgheist

In this video TheJTJ reviews the Warscroll for the Zombie Dragon and Terrorgheist. I cover their abilities and discuss some tactics for each.

Zombie Dragon

  • Cost
    • 295
  • Notes:
    • Monster
    • Battleline if Avengorii
  • Max wound output:
    • 32
  • Average wound output:
    • 6
  • Average with +1 to hit
    • 8
  • Average with +1 to hit and Wound
    • 11
  • The Good
    • Monster keyword
    • Range Attack
    • 14” move, 14 wounds, 4+ save
    • Works nicely with Avengorii and Vengorian lords
  • The Bad
    • Cost is a bit high
    • 4+ save, no healing on Warscroll, could die fast.
    • D6 damage weapons are swingy
  • Adds some mobile punch to you army. However don’t run it into the center of the enemy line, it will melt. Use it on flanks to take out chaff, screens, and weak Objective holders.
  • If you look at the average damage output it if very spiky. Without buffs and support It will probably let you down a few times a game.
  • I think it is more of a distraction model than something to build around even in Avengorii with Cursed Mutations.
  • However Does synergies nicely with Lauka Vai and Vengorian lord. They make the ZD hit better and live longer. You could look to run A ZD and a Vengorian lord on a flank to control an side.
  • Unit Rating
    • C
    • For 295 Points you get a fast monster with very up and down damage output. If not supported or if it comes into contact with a strong unit it will die and give your opponent and Extra victory Point for killing a monster.
    • Could be useful in some builds, but would not build around it.
    • Can fill your battleline in Avengorii if you want to run a 100% Monster list.

Terrorgheist

  • Cost
    • 305
  • Notes:
    • Monster
    • Battleline if Avengorii
  • Max wound output:
    • 36
  • Average wound output:
    • 5
  • Average +1 to hit
    • 9
  • Average +1 to hit and Wound
    • 10
  • The Good
    • Monster keyword
    • Range Attack
    • 14” move, 14 wounds, 4+ save
    • Works nicely with Avengorii and Vengorian lords
    • Fishing for 6s
  • The Bad
    • Cost is a bit high
    • 4+ save, no healing on Warscroll, could die fast.
    • Death Shriek is a no go against many Armies.
  • Thoughts
    • Fills the same roll as the Zombie Dragon.
    • Damage is dependent on those Fanged maw 6s. When the work they can take out units. When they miss you still have D6 damage to hopefully spike.
    • Death Shriek against a 10 Bravery is a low probability. Many many armies in the game have 10+ Bravery.
    • Infested is a nice bonus rule. At least its something.
    • Like the ZD pick and choose your battles. It needs support and good matchup’s.
  • Unit Rating
    • C
    • CTRL + V from ZD
    • For 305 Points you get a fast monster with very up and down damage output. If not supported or if it comes into contact with a strong unit it will die and give your opponent and Extra victory Point for killing a monster.
    • Could be useful in some builds, but would not build around it.
    • Can fill your battleline in Avengorii if you want to run a 100% Monster list.

How to Buff

  • Avengorii Cursed Mutations, take Urges of Atrocity or Nullblood Construct
  • Mannfred Vigour of undeath +1 hit and wound
  • Neferata Dark Mist, Ignore – Modifiers
  • The Lauka Vai Warscroll.
  • Vengorian Lord Warscroll
  • Volga, Under a Killing Moon. Great on ZD. How does that interact with TG?
  • Radukar, Call to the Hunt, +1 attack
  • Coven Throne, Tactical Insight, +1 hit, wound and save.
  • Nagash, Rroll 1s to hit and save.
