Hobby Update: Bloodreavers 1/3

10 Bloodreavers complete 20 to go. All the units of Bloodreavers I have for my Tyrants list contain second hand models. Some came from Ebay and some from Paul Smith here in Houston. This particular unit came from an Ebay lot I purchased I am not completely sure of all the colors the previous owner used. Here is an example of what the models looked like when I got them:

As you can see the colors are a bit flat and could use some more depth. the bases also needed to be retouched.

Tactics: Bloodreavers have their place and can be effective in a Blades list, however they need lots of support; Slaughterpriest, Bloodsecrator, Warshrine and Bloodstokers can all increase their effectiveness. In my Tyrants list I am only running the Priests and they are primarily being used to buff the Skullcrushers and Bloodthirsters. With that said my Bloodreavers are just there to be #1. speedbumps, #2. Space eaters, #3. Bloodtithe. They have never done very much on the table for me, but they do serve a purpose, holding objectives and being a general nuisance.

Paint: I started by stripping the bases with simple green and water, I just filled a pan up to the bottom of there feet and let them stand for a few days. Then I just touched up some of the little paint issues. I washed “shaded” them and then just added a little drybrush and highlights. I just wanted to give them a little more depth and contrast. In the end I am happy with how the came out.
