Hobby Update: Mighty Skullcrushers

It has been a while sense I was able to get any photos uploaded of my hobby progress.  I have just been busy painting and “life”. I have been completing models, just not able to get any blog post up about them.

Finally got 3 of the 6 Skullcrushers of Khorne completed for my list. They painted up relatively easy primarily because of the red base coat. Once again I am just trying to get a solid table top standard going with all the models in the list. I am on a time crunch to get everything ready for Slambo.

Tactics: The Skullcrushers are one of the best units in the Blades book. They have a 3 up save that can be a 2+ with bronze flesh. 5 wounds and 6 total attacks on 3s and 3s. Their movement is a little low, but those sweet impact hits are beautiful. If you can make the charge with a unit of six or more they do d3 impact hit. 6xd3 that is a max of 18 mortals on the charge. I am not sure of the average but lets just say 9. However what really makes this unit great is its staying power. It is not easy to go through 30 wounds that have a 3+ or 2+ save. What I primarily use them for in this list is to screen for my Bloodthirsters and or tie up other units. Other than just sitting tied up with a unit, I will also cycle charge them. If the opportunity presents itself I will run the Skullcrushers out of combat to just have them charge again my next turn. This lets me reposition the unit and have another opportunity to get those impact hits in.

They models themselves are not the newest kit, but still hold up. They have a threatening look to them. These models in particular came in an Ebay lot, they were built and base coated silver. I cleaned them up a bit and I always reinforce the feet of Jugernaughts with Milliput. I find this just helps them not to get broken off the bases so easy. After everything is painted you cannot even tell their feet are reinforced.
